Base Happenings
SubVets WWII Southern Regional and USSVI Southeast Regional will hold a combined Convention in Mobile, AL 18-22 April 2012 (Wed to Sun).
WWII Florida State will also hold their annual meeting at this convention.
As this convention will be in April, there will be a Submarine Birthday Ball following the banquet on Saturday, April 21st, 2012. All submarine sailors are more than welcome to attend and participate in the one hundred and twelfth anniversary of the Submarine Service.
The convention hotel is the Holiday Inn Historic Downtown Mobile; room rates $90 (+tax). The SubVets have had many conventions at this fine hotel over the years (including a WWII Nat'l, an INC Nat'l, and several Regionals), this last being a WWII SoReg in 2010. The hotel was completely remodeled just before our 2010 Convention. All rooms have a flat-screen TV, frig & microwave. There are restaurants, shopping, and points-of-interest within walking distance. We had a very good turnout for our Christmas meeting on Dec. 17th. at the Original Oyster House.

We celebrated the 70th anniversary of the USS Drum's commissioning at our last meeting.

The USS Drum SS-228 at Battleship Park is in the Movies!!

Base meetings time and place
The Mobile Bay Base USSVI meets the third Saturday each month. The meeting is open to all Submarine Veterans, Active Duty Submariners, their wives and all that have an interest in Submarines.
Our Base meeting is around 11am and followed by lunch.
A good time is always had by all.
Come join our crew and have a good time with us.
